My Top 2 Reader Confessions
I am not a great reader. Now, I know what you're thinking.
"Mary, didn't you write a book?"
Hear me out.

I didn't always love reading, but I fell in love with writing at an early age. My love of reading came later, and I am happy to say that it is flourishing. However, I have some unhealthy reading habits that get in the way.
I always check the last page to make sure both lovers are still alive.
Sorry, I'm a Happily Ever After (HEA) and/or Happy for Now (HFN) kind of girl. I love my swoon-worthy romance. I respect every reader's tastes. There is no judgement here. I become very emotionally immersed in books, and I just know what I like/look for in books I choose to read.
2. It takes me forever to finish a book (even if I like it).
I am at a busy time in my life. I'm not complaining whatsoever. Between my two kids (who I love spending time with), a job, a husband, a household, etc. I struggle with finding time to read for pleasure. I practice self-care, don't get me wrong, but it still feels like finishing a book is a big accomplishment whenever I reach that last page.
Am I weirdo? Maybe. Hopefully, you're not scared off. My intentions are always good with every book I start. I just can't promise when I'll get to the ending. I do love the smell of the pages though...maybe that should've been confession 3.
If you're a fantasy romance reader, give The Haighdlen Chronicles a try! You can find them on Amazon and other major online retailers (links are on my website at maryscatlinauthor.com.)

I am off to read!
